Many Extension faculty have or will encounter a situation of a participant in a program asking to use their correct gender identity. To show inclusiveness and sensitivity to others' expressions, per MU Title IX policy, we need to educate ourselves what exactly they're asking.

It's also important that we are not making assumptions about others' identity and that we display appropriate sensitivity and empathy.

This year's six conversations about equity, diversity and inclusion issues take place every other month during regularly scheduled third Tuesday meetings. Join host Sawiyyah (Chiquita) Chanay, education director, MU Extension Community Health and Engagement Outreach, and colleagues across the state. All MU Extension faculty and staff are invited and encouraged to attend!

These sessions are a way for us to engage across MU Extension to strengthen our competencies and understanding of how to keep EDI central in our lives and work.
