Admissions and Enrollment Initiative
The University of Missouri Extension routinely collaborates with the offices of admissions and recruitment at Mizzou, and the office of Financial Aid at MU, to help educate and inform the general public, alumni, prospective students and their families and guidance counselors in the Missouri school system with the latest information on Educational Attainment through MU and in collaboration with our UM System and junior college partners around the state.
In the past, we have used our MU presence in all 114 counties in Missouri through our MU Extension offices or centers. With faculty there embedded in their communities, they have helped to increase enrollment and applications at MU, while educating on things related to college such as filing the FAFSA, deadlines for admissions, and steps to take, and providing the latest in scholarship and opportunities.
In addition two Extension-related programs, the Missouri College Advising Corps and the 4-H Youth Futures Program, have earned benchmarks in starting to work early on with at-risk youth, first generation to college students, and ways to enable youth to see a future in whatever form of higher education or post-high school training or education they elect. These two programs actively prepare youth for the next steps in their education, navigate the admissions waters, and dovetail with the Land Grant Scholarships available — all in an effort to promote educational attainment.
