Developed by Instructure, Inc., Canvas is MU Extension's learning management system (LMS). Canvas includes most of the standard tools found in open source and commercial learning management systems (assignments, discussions, announcements, quizzes, syllabus, etc.) as well as enhanced tools and features including real-time web conferencing, Box, Zoom and Google Docs integration, outcomes and rubrics, and course analytics. Canvas, along with additional integrated technologies - Kaltura video management, CIDI Design Tools, UDOIT accessibility checking software and VoiceThread, an online communication and collaboration tool - are part of Extension’s suite of technologies to support our mission.
Canvas provides a great collaboration and resource center, or internal training tool for Extension educators. To establish a Canvas account for a group or internal training, send an online site request to your Canvas administrators. For more about how you can leverage Canvas, see Learning and Teaching Services.
